life through Emory's eyes...

Some recent conversation snippets:

In the car today on the way to dine at CFA with a friend, Emory puts her hand to her mouth, makes the "walkie-talkie" noise and then announces, "Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your cat speaking."

While reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar before naptime, Emory asks "Where did the butterfly come from?"
Momma: "Well, the caterpillar spun this cocoon," turning back the page for her to see, "he stays inside for a couple of weeks, and then comes out a butterfly. God made caterpillars to do that."
Emory: "But once they are a butterfly, they stay that way, right?"

Overhead while she is in her room, with the door closed, "reading" to her baby dolls..."And Jesus said, 'Do what I tell you is good, or I'll spank you.'"

Looking at Eric's nametag from work (Dr. Eric Skocelas)... she points to the period and asks, "Does that stand for Daddy dot com?"

Yesterday on the way to take her to preschool, I had to pull over to hunt for something in the car before we even got out of the neighborhood. I put the hazards on and Emory inquired, "Mommy, how are you going to go both ways?"

remember the big girl?

I realize I've been heavy on the boy's photos and really need to make sure I keep you abreast of the big girl's happenings too. Below is the best photo we've gotten in a while of the kiddos together, and then there is Emory in her most favorite outfit. She wears it every time it is clean, which means she is in it every Tuesday. Her preschool teachers must think she has a very limited wardrobe. It is actually a summer dress that I got when Children's Place had their monster sale in January. When it came in the mail, she fell in love with it. What you don't see in the picture is the bloomers, which she insists on wearing, as they are underneath the "long" pants. As you can see, she's experienced some growth since we got the pants in the fall. She completes her ensemble with a very colorful choice in footwear. What an eye for color that girl has!

It's official, Folks!

I can now sit up all by myself, and for long periods of time too. (Just an FYI... I won't be 6 months old until Saturday. Mom's pretty pumped that I can already do this... I've actually been doing it for a week now. I think it's cool too, since I can now reach all my toys by myself and don't have to lay down on my big 'ole belly.)

And this one is just because my mom thinks I'm terribly cute. (Doesn't it look like I'm getting molars?!)

some lighter moments 'round here...

Emory is keeping us in stitches around here these days. Here are a few conversation snippets with the big girl:

1.) Emory loves to act out the princess stories. One evening she wanted to play Snow White, but was having a hard time engaging her parents in play. Daddy was bathing Ethan and I was on the computer getting last minute coupons before heading out to Wal-Mart sans kids. She had been lying on the floor waiting for the prince (Daddy) to kiss her. Ethan and I were dwarves. I was Busy and Ethan was Chunky. Finally, out of frustration she sat up, looked at me and said, "You know, Dwarves don't have computers."

2.) Daddy asked if he could watch Tom & Jerry with her this morning and she replied, "Uh-huh. I'll make room for your big buns."

3.) With Daddy, in the check-out line at Home Depot this weekend she politely asked if she could pinch the buns of the man in front of her. Later, when asked why she wanted to pinch his buns, she shrugged and said, "They just looked pinchable."
