the best sandwich ever!1

I'm a sandwich lover. And, I am that person who will take the time to make a sandwich really good. I could eat a sandwich any time. In keeping with my promise to pass along great new recipes, here is a sandwich recipe we tried for lunch yesterday:

1 focaccia loaf (best at Bruno's)
1 lb. ham
6 slices muenster cheese (or any cheese of choice)
12 c. thinly sliced red onion
3 oz. pesto

Cut bread in half and spread pesto on both sides. Layer ham, onion, cheese and top with remaining half of bread. Wrap in foil and bake for 20 minutes at 450 degrees. (or until cheese is melted) Remove from foil and cut into 6 slices.
Serve with fruit of choice and plain potato chips.

My darling dearest said that it was the best sandwich he's ever had and has asked that we have it again "real soon". Aimee, this totally falls into the category of awesome considering how little effort it takes. And Beth, since you're a pesto lover... you HAVE to try this one!

Enjoy!

Yummm! I also make something similar(maybe requiring SLIGHTLY more effort) where you thaw and let rise a bread loaf(found in freezer section), roll out in flat rectangular shape on greased cookie sheet, slap half the length with butter, and layer with ham, italian salami, provolone, and/or mozzarella, fold over, pinch sides and make slits, bake for 30 min. on 350 and serve with marinara. This makes for a really casual dinner for friends you don't have to impress too :) I've served it with fruit, chips, and dessert before. I will definitely have to try this pesto one!
